The Foundation’s Silent Auction will be held at PIHRA's annual conference August 28 – 29, 2012, Anaheim, CA and is our fund raising vehicle that provides scholarships to deserving students and PIHRA members. Call for Volunteer for Mock Interviews
Professor Giselle Richards of Long Beach City College is in need of volunteers for mock interviews on May 7th and May 9th. Listed below is a personal letter from Professor Richards informing us about the event. Please read and share with your prospective HR professionals. Thank you very much As you might know, I teach career readiness classes to multi-lingual students at Long Beach City College. This semester, I am teaching a class that gives students the skills they need to find a job, fill out applications properly and succeed in the interview process. My students come from many walks of life. Some are just out of high school, but most are in their 30s and 40s. Some have been living in the US for a few months and some for many years. Some came to the US with a degree and some had very little formal education before arriving here. All of them share the desire succeed. As part of this class, students have the opportunity to participate in mock interviews. I am hoping you will consider taking the time to help me toward this end. The interviewers should be people they have never met (That would be you.) The students are often very nervous, but it is invaluable practice for them. The more practice interviews they can participate in, the better their skills will become. They gain a lot of confidence through this activity. The mock interviews will be conducted on the following days: - Monday, May 7, 2012 6:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m. - Wednesday, May 9, 2012 6:30 p.m. -9:30 p.m. If you are available for either of them and interested in helping, please let me know.
